Pops’ Back To School Picks From Debenhams…

Back to school is looming. Less than a week (not counting) and soon peace will rein in the house. Not before us parents have scoured the aisles. and cue in the local school shop for hours to spend our weight in money on ‘essential’  garments emblazoned with the appropriate logo.

Because that’s what our kids want. Because all the other kids will, apparently?

Or so I am informed.

With so much to choose from these days, I decided I would let Pop’s loose on the Debenhams website to put together her version of a “uniform” Or basically, what she would wear.

She decided on the seasons summer and winter. In-between is not as important apparently.

So firstly, we have her summer choices…

Summer

As you can see, she loves pink. However made an exception for the beautiful dress. And what outfit wouldn’t be complete without Hello Kitty crocs?

Next is winter and of course, a little more is needed…

Winter

The ear muffs are a must for any uniform, as are the lovely leopard print wellies. She outdid herself on this one.

Lastly and most oddly, we have the “I am tired” part of the uniform portion. She asked me why they don’t have something snugly for when they are still sleepy, so she decided it would be best to put one together.

I obliged…

tired sleep

The pink theme here is strong. And not surprising with so many of these snugly beauties. Pop’s is now adamant this should be a school uniform. An I don’t disagree!

So when looking for that all important school uniform, don’t forget to check our Debenhams for yourselves!

This is our entry into the Debenhams competition.

I Have Bad Habits

Yup, I do.

I have terrible bad habits. Probably really bad for my health and skin and all that, but really. I don’t think I will be giving them up too soon. Why would I, we all enjoy them right?

That’s what makes them bad!

Bobatoo wanted to hear all about them, I could only oblige, right?

So, my first bad habit? Coca-cola and other fizzy drinks. Whether it comes in a can or a bottle, if it’s fizzy I will drink it. Oh wait, I tell a lie. I prefer it in a can. makes it so much easier to obtain that way. I know, using words like obtain won’t make my fizzy binges any better.

Or my stomach lining for that matter. But alas, they make me happy.

Secondly, I pick the skin around my nails and on certain days, cut it off with scissors.

Yuck.

It just because it gets so hard and peeley, it drives me mad. So when I tire of the incessant picking, I get my handy manicure scissors out and snip away the skin. I think I know deep inside its the cause of the hard skin, even so, it’s deeply satisfying.

Another it that I always have to be right. Even when I’m not. I guess it seems like more of a trait? But it really does get on people’s nerves, and my own sometimes. So I felt it only right to add it to the list.

Don’t try and tell me otherwise.

You won’t win.

Picking my girls is one too. Whether its crud off a cheek or potatoes in their ears, if I can feel it, it’s coming off!

When they were babies I hated seeing them lying there with bogies up their noses. So I had them out too. In a gentle way of course, I’m not a monster.

These days if the word nose comes into a conversation my children soon retreat away from me. but to be honest, now they have children types noses it just seems gross.

Shame the same cant be said for their ears….

Then I think MacDonald’s! I rely on the big golden M far too much for my own meals. They are so just so easy when the kids are in bed or at nannies. Its just the simplicity of it. It’s probably one of the habits I would like to kick in this instance.

I won’t lie.

So, there you have it. A little portion of my bad habits.

This post is my entry into the Bobatoo.co.uk Bad Habits blog competition.

#NetflixStreamTeam August!

Network

So, with the holiday season almost over, I think Netflix may have been our saving grace this summer.

I myself completed gossip girl, so I have started Greek, which is another firm favourite. Also on my travels myself and bestie Erika watched some scaries whilst we were away. Got to love an evening in bed being scared witless right?

The girls have been enjoying endless Dora the Explorer but Pops has been enjoying the wonderful musicals added, when she gets to watch without her sister!

A couple of her favs are All Stars and Standing ovation. She’s getting into the teen fun.

all starts unnamed

You could even made your own show stopping stage curtain, then follow the instructions below and get singing!

No Sew Stage Curtain

Materials needed:
Tension rod to fit your doorway
Fabric to fit your doorway
Scissors
Different colors of felt
Ribbon
Liquid Stitch Glue
Measuring tape
Self-adhesive Velcro dots (optional)
Straight pins
Piece of paper
Pencil

Step 1:

Using your measuring tape to measure your doorway, determine how long and wide your fabric should be, leaving at least one additional inch on each side and bottom and four additional inches on the top. Use the straight pins to hold your hems in place. Once you have the hems exactly how you want them, drizzle Liquid Stitch Glue onto the fabric to hold the hems in place. Let dry. Tip: Glue the top of the curtain last so your tension rod can easily slide through the hole.

Step 2:

Draw a triangle shape onto a piece of paper and cut it out. This will by your triangle bunting template. Pin the template onto the felt and cut the triangle out. Repeat until you get the desired amount of triangles you will need.

Step 3:

Spread your curtain out on the floor. Place your felt triangles on it to determine where they look best. Once you’re happy with your placement, unravel your ribbon from the spool and lay over the tops of the triangles. This will help you determine how much ribbon you need for each strip of bunting. Cut the ribbon to your desired length. Then take the felt and ribbon off the curtain. Stretch your ribbon out and glue the tops of the triangle to the ribbon to create the bunting. Let dry.

Step 4:

Once dry, place the bunting back onto the curtain and glue into place. Let dry.

Step 5:

Fold the curtain in half lengthwise and create a crease in the fabric. With your scissors, carefully cut the fabric lengthwise, ¾ of the way up from the bottom.

Step 6:

Insert your curtain rod in the top pocket and hang on your door. Optional: Adhere (or sew) self-adhesive Velcro dots to the curtains opening to help the curtain flaps stay closed.

I Have MS And I Am Too Expensive, Take 2

I felt it only right to post an update here regarding my post here.

Today I met with the housing association I am currently a tenant under. They were really nice, they were also shocked at what has been said. However their hands are tied by what Home choice plus, the department which deals with housing and decides on banding  and room numbers, say.

This is run by my local council, Wychavon district council.

Whom have a duty to make sure my family are adequately housed. Which we are not.

They refuse to look at separate situations for what they really are.

After all, no two families are the same.

I have provided all the evidence I can, which I really hope they have read. But due to their decision, it looks like it may have had a quick skim at most.

I live in the middle of several counties. So we have many different LHAs around.

One of which was the one who reiterated that I would not be put in a new home, because they didn’t want them changed. She said it to me like it was something I should have known. Like a given thing?

More than likely taking their script from Home choice plus.

As time moves on I am tiring of fighting.

If its not the benefit system, its housing and vice versa.

When will the people who are meant to help, realise that no two cases are ever the same. And actually listen to each person and their needs.

Instead we are all grouped together. Expected to repeatedly prove ourselves and jump though as may hoops as they feel like throwing.

How is that fair?

Daily I have to be reminded I am never getting better, yet I will spend every few years fighting the same fight over and over again.

When will they realise lifelong means forever?

I will never get better, never be the same.

I do all the tests, have all the scans and go through all the prodding for  what?

For the government of course. Because without that proof, I would fail to jump though those hoops any more.

It has gotten to the stage where its not even for me.

When did society become so cruel?

because one again, I have MS and I am too expensive.

We were lucky enough to be asked to be Prezzybox Pudits and try out everything PrezzyBox has to offer.

If you’re not familiar with PrezzyBox, then you should really take a look. They are a great online company who offer a fabulous range of gifts for every occasion in one place. From sweets and personalised gifts, to gadgets for every kind of man.

Trust me, I have browsed for hours.

Which was so not for selfish reasons…

In-fact, I have just been over again and I am getting far too distracted. They literally have something for anyone and everyone and even if your looking to treat yourself, there will be something unique and fantastic you will love.

This month we received something for me, which makes a lovely change.

IMGP1703

Some lovely tea lights for the bath, which I LOVE!They also change colour, which the girls have be mesmerised by. And make your own bath bombs, which I have always wanted to try. Its something I can do with kids too, so it’s win win!

Also included is a £50 off virgin wines vouches, which is always welcome in this house.

These two lovely gifts have given me the opportunity to have a much needed relaxing bath, whilst smelling incredible. Its so simple, yet very well received and something I would even buy for my own mummy friends, who just need some time out.

The Bath bombs themselves would make lovely gifts after being made. Although this time I think I will keep them for myself. its something me and the girls will be doing again, especially with Christmas on the horizon.

The delivery times from PrezzyBox was great. Fast and no problems with delivery. Another bonus!

Stay tuned to see what PrezzyBox have in store next….
