The Sky Kids App

sky kids

It’s here, Sky have rescued our beloved Sky go apps from little hands.

They now have their own app so they can access their own TV programmes on their OWN!

Can you tell I’m passionate about this?

The amount of times Evie has brought me the iPad because she’s lost herself in the normal app in unreal.

So now she has her own version with a super cute interface which is super easy to use. With character pictures and channel logos kids can navigate their way around this app so easily.

Even a four year old can do it 😛

Sky sent us a den kit to celebrate the new release:

We got straight to work in building a den fit for our first Sky Kids viewing.

livs 2 liv den

We do love a good den.

And we do love the new sky kids app. Super easy to use and the kids have had no issues with it at all. Well, apart from the fighting over it.

Well, apart from the fighting over it of course.

So if you are looking for the perfect kids tv/catch up app then I urge you to download Sky Kids, it has an abundance of programmes to watch from their favourite SKY TV kids channels, I don’t think I have ever seen so much peppa pig.

The app is available at no extra cost to the family and variety bundle with sky Q.

Our Fire Side Fiction Favourites

This is our entry into the #Currysfiresidefiction competition. Both ourselves and extended family love a bit of fiction. whether its in the form of a book or a TV show/film, so we thought we would tell you about a couple of our favourites found over the year.

We will start with books, and our book of choice is The Bone Season.

The Bone Season is a fantastic book that is the début novel for Samantha Shannon and it is incredible. A read like never before you follow the life of Paige Mahoney in the year 2059. The world is not as we know it now, there is a new order and people with gifts such as Clairvoyance and psychic abilities are hunted like criminals.

One day Paige is drugged and kidnaped. When she regain consciousness she is in Oxford, a captive, policed by Raphaites. Assigned to an individual Warden Paige slowly discovers the horrors that Oxford now holds.

A completely unique tale, Shannon has created a world that captivates and grips you from start to finish. A must read.

Next is a little different, but a real corker, The 2014 Transformers movie, Age of Extinction.

Now this movie didn’t get the best ratings, compared to the others. However from a personal perspective, I loved it.

It was the first film Ben and I have been to see in the cinema together after five years of marriage (yes, madness) Although I felt the beginning of the film could have done with some changes with the story telling as far as how the new “creators” got there in the first place. Now the Autobots are being hunted for their metal to use to create a new breed of robots.

The type the humans can control.

But after melting down parts of Mega Tron, these new creations took on a life of their own and soon the Autobots were needed to save the day.

The graphics and soundtrack gave the movie a more emotional connection. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time worrying about Optimus and the gang.

This movie did do a fantastic job of setting up the scene for the next installment, which for me made me forget a little about the slightly odd start.

I cannot wait for the next movie, which I know will be full of more “edge of my seat” moments!

Well Done Will.I.Am Way To Make A Girl Feel Special

So last night was the final of The Voice 2013, I have to say I am/was quite a fan of the voiceand I have loved Andrea since her first audition, so when she was crowned last nights winner, I was pleased. However it seems many other people were not and felt it ‘appropriate’ to completely tear her win apart on twitter.

Including the famous judge Will.I.Am who tweeted several unfair and quite frankly disrespectful tweets “You should feel the audiences vibration in the room tonight after the publics vote…its #unexplainable…so sad…#perplexed” and “Andrea is amazing…#dontGETmeWRONG…but we know who has the incredible #voice

Then the British public took to twitter and got #sympathyvote trending. WOW, really?

As a partially sighted disabled woman myself, I didn’t want Andrea to win for this reason, I wanted her to win for her amazing voice, one she worked damn hard to get heard.

If say Leah had won, I am sure as usual there would be people who supported the other contestants who would have something to say, however they simply would not have gone to the extreme level of getting something so hurtful trending on twitter. It would have simply gone over their heads, but no, not with someone who is disabled, that MUST mean its purely sympathy? Right?!

Why is it, that people this day and age are so very cruel, why do they feel the need to do this to someone?!

I know from my own experiences, how hard it must have been for her to even apply for the show. My betting is she had already been turned away from many other auditions for the way she looked and even her disability itself, but I am guessing she didn’t make a fuss about it. She simply carried on the fight.

I was disgusted and ashamed by the behaviour and harsh words from the people of twitter and also from people like Will.I.Am who should damn well know better.

By all means, you all have people you were backing, but there was absolutely no need to be so cruel and vindictive.

Long gone are the days when people are simply happy for other people. They always feel the need to take it that extra step too far.

My Failings, with illustrations!

My failings as a mother taunt me on a daily basis. After seeing a lovely lady on twitter post about hers, I decided to admit mine, hey maybe I will learn from them?
I often use the tv as the main form of entertainment. Having two and no energy, I have to say it is one tool I would not live without. I am not afraid to say it!
I tell lies, mostly small, but some big whoppers too. See I only do it to keep Pops safe, she literally never misses a thing, I cannot even have a poo without her announcing it to the world!
I am not yet a naughty step fan, one reason being I am scared shitless of Pops falling down the stairs. So I use the counting to five technique, it works and I have never got to five, I wouldn’t know what to do if I did?!
I tend to give in for a quiet life, I will use sweets and toys as a weapon and often after me saying no and a lot of wining later I simply give in for some peace.
I shout, yes I shout loud and I hate myself when I do, I have sworn and cried before, but sometimes the questions are so relentless and never ending Its easily done. Although I have become a much calmer person.
I often forget to brush her hair. I know, but sometimes its such a mission I just do not need the aggro! I would rather she has a birds nest than listen to the screams, nothing works or makes it an easier not even bribery, trust me I have tried.
I have eaten her sweets and blamed the dog. Well Skye can’t talk so will not drop me in it. Plus I don’t think she minds too much.
I will sometimes hand Beboo over to Hubby for a ‘cuddle’ when I know full well she has pooed! Oh dear lord I am awful!
Some weeks mcdonalds is a staple. This is by far getting to be my worst habit, it did briefly improve. But has since returned. There is no excuse I am simply, some days just lazy. I would judge me too!
I have yet to register any of us at a dentist. I myself hate hate hate them. No not a typo. I hate hate hate them. I will not go, but I know Pops should.
I taught Pops naughty words at a young age and found it highly amusing when she shouted them at Hubby, in my defensive she does not use them any more. She is far too posh.
I use Pops as my getter of things. If I cannot be bothered to get the remote or my phone I will ask her and make it seem super cool and special. To be honest doing some of these things if way cool!
Pops, the 3 year old still has a dummy at bedtime. I hear gasps. I no it is awful, but I require sleep for my condition!
I tease her. I tease her a lot. I have even told her I will have her christened Simon Pie-man.
I pretty much let her potty train herself. I was heavily pregnant and getting nowhere fast, so I gave in, then she decided to do it anyway.
For now this is what has come to mind! I am not perfect and I sure I will add more. Please come and admit yours 🙂
